Greetings New Fairfield Community, this is certainly a busy and exciting time of the year in our schools from winter concerts to special events. On behalf of the central office annex leadership team (Ken, Carrie, Alyce & Julie), we wish you a healthy and restful winter break during this holiday season.
Dear NFPS Families: Due to the high winds, and out of an abundance of caution, New Fairfield Public Schools and offices will be closed today, Friday, December 23. Stay safe.
Dear NFPS Families: Due to the overnight snow, NFPS will operate on a 2-hour delay schedule for Monday, December 12. Stay Safe
Dear New Fairfield Students and Families, I am writing to notify you of a change to the New Fairfield Public Schools 2022-2023 district calendar, as it relates to the New Year’s Day holiday. NFPS will now be closed on Monday, January 2, 2023, in accordance with state law. Schools will be back in session on Tuesday, January 3 following the break. While this issue was not flagged when the calendar was originally developed, we are obligated to make this modification in accordance with state statute. Whenever New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, the legal holiday must be observed on Monday. Since we will not be in school on January 2, this will likely extend the school year by one day with the last scheduled day for students and staff becoming June 15, 2023. The BOE will discuss how the day will be made up at their December 15 regular meeting. Thank you for your flexibility.
Dear NFPS Families: Due to this morning's delayed opening, the K-8 parent conferences scheduled for this afternoon have been postponed. For your planning purposes, afternoon conferences have been rescheduled to next Thursday, December 8. We will have an early dismissal for grades K-8 only on December 8. The high school schedule will remain unchanged. The schools will follow up with additional details regarding conferences. Thank you.
NFPS will be on a 2-hour delay this morning, Thursday, December 1, due to several road closures as a result of last night's storm. K-8 conferences will be rescheduled; therefore, we will not have an early dismissal this afternoon.
Dear Parents and Staff: Effective February 25, 2022, the CDC announced that they will no longer require the wearing of masks on buses or vans operated by public or private school systems. Therefore, New Fairfield Public Schools will no longer require mask-wearing on school transportation. Mask-wearing will be optional in all NFPS as well as buses and vans beginning tomorrow Monday, February 28th. Please take time today to remind your child to respect the decisions of all students regarding mask choice. Thank you for your continued cooperation. Sincerely, Dr. Cosentino
Dear New Fairfield Families, Please see the letter from Assistant Superintendent Ms. Luby regarding masks being optional in New Fairfield Public Schools beginning Monday, February 28th. https://bit.ly/3JvFr8T
