New Fairfield Public Schools

The New Fairfield High School World Language Department is proud to announce that 34 students from New Fairfield High School have earned the Connecticut Seal of Biliteracy, a prestigious recognition awarded to students who have demonstrated proficiency in English and at least one additional language.

To qualify, students were required to complete national assessments in speaking, writing, listening, and reading. These rigorous evaluations measure language ability according to high academic standards, and the students' success reflects their dedication, hard work, and commitment to cultural and linguistic fluency. The students have successfully completed the world language portion of eligibility.

The Connecticut Seal of Biliteracy not only honors students' multilingual abilities, but also encourages the continued study of languages and promotes cross-cultural understanding. Earning the seal is a significant achievement that enhances college applications and career readiness in our increasingly global society. This year’s students earned their distinction in the following languages: French, Italian, Kannada, Lithuanian, Portuguese, Spanish, Swedish and Ukrainian.
