Spanish Club

The Spanish Club and teachers invited New Fairfield resident, Zafiro Acevedo, into the high school to do two presentations this fall. The first was for Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) where she presented in a combination of both languages, the history of La Ofrenda and the significance of the items included on La Ofrenda. Students were able to participate in making some handmade crafts and were interactive with Mrs. Acevedo throughout the presentation. The following week, the Spanish Club, along with the AP Spanish classes, created their own Ofrenda that was located in the main lobby of the new high school for all students and staff to enjoy.

Just this past week, Mrs. Acevedo came back to do a demonstration and hands-on activity with the members of the Spanish Club. The presentation again was given in a combination of Spanish and English, where students learned about the history of La Pinata while she demonstrated how they are made. Students were able to participate and make their own!
