New Fairfield Middle School

Our 8th graders have been exploring mechanical waves in STEAM, and to apply their learning, they worked in teams to design and build models of tsunami warning systems. Each group engineered a system that could detect and respond to wave activity with audio and visual signals. Once the designs were complete, we filled the bin with water and put their creations to the test, simulating wave motion and observing how effectively each system responded. It was hands-on way to connect science concepts with real-world problem-solving!
