Administration

Welcome to New Fairfield Middle School!  Our enrollment currently numbers approximately 775 students in grades 6-8. Approximately 90 certified and classified staff work to address the academic, social, and emotional well-being of our students.  The academic program at our school is described below.

Students participate in mathematics, science, social studies, reading, and writing classes every day.
Sixth graders have physical education every other day, and short-term “rotations” in art, keyboarding, and developmental guidance.  In addition, sixth graders also rotate through exploratory French, exploratory Spanish, library/media, general music, and health.
Seventh and eighth graders have physical education every other day, and short-term rotations in health, music, and art.  In addition, seventh graders take either Spanish I, Conversational Spanish I, or French I.  Eighth graders take Spanish II or Conversational Spanish II.

We are fortunate to be able to provide a spectrum of special education and support services.  We also have a combined pull-out/push-in remedial program for reading, writing, and math.  Individual and small group counseling, substance abuse counseling, and a strong mentor program provide emotional support for our students.  A Conduct Code designed for the middle school governs student behavior, and Peer Mediation is used to resolve conflicts before disciplinary issues arise.

We have a diverse extra-curricular program for students.  Students may participate in one or more of nine after-school intramural activities, including soccer, lacrosse, swimming, basketball, dance club, and volleyball.  Science Club and Homework Club opportunities are available.  Dances and school spirit days sponsored by the Student Council are held every month.  Field trips, class picnics, field day, visiting authors, cultural events, and motivational speakers round out our co-curricular and extracurricular offerings.
