The Mark Twain House
By: Matthew R.
One day, we got on the bus to go to the Mark Twain House. From the outside, the house looked like a mansion. It ha patterned brick and amazing woodwork. The inside of the house was even nicer. It even had a library, conservatory, and a billiard room! But that was the family part of the house. The servant part of the house was not at all the same. There was only a small nook for eating and there was a creepy, steep staircase going down to it. It was the best field trip ever!!!

The Mark Twain house was really fun! Did you know that Mark Twain's real name was Samuel Clemens? He had a wife, and three daughters, but one son died as a baby. His wife's name was Olivia, his daughters names where Susy, Clara and Jean. Susy was the oldest child and had her own room. Clara and Jean shared a room because they were smaller. The son's name was Langdon. Clara and Jeans wallpaper was decorated with a story. A certain story actually. It was  Froggy Went A-Courting. Their house was big. It had at least 18 rooms. Susy, Olivia and Jean all died, and just Mark Twain and Clara where left. Did you know that Mark Twain was born on the day of Haley's comet and died on the day of Haley's comet? Mark Twain died at age 74. Now all that's left to remember him is his books, his life and the house I visited.

On November 20, 2008, our class and Mrs. Wood's class went on a field trip to the Mark Twain House. The Mark Twain House was very interesting. It had 19 rooms and 3 floors. Mark Twain had three daughters named Susie, Clara, Jean and a wife named Olivia. Clara and Jean shared a room and Susie had her own room. The Mark Twain House was very decorative and had lots of stenciling on the walls. Mark Twain lived a long life and died at 74 years old.

CL&P Electrical Safety
                                                        By Taylor B.

On November 12, we had a presentation on electrical safety.  First, we watched a movie on how dangerous electricity can be.  In the movie we saw that even a toaster could be dangerous if you don't use it correctly.  After the movie they answered questions about how close you have to be to a wire to get electrocuted or if you are walking on the ground and there is a wire under all the grass and the dirt will you get electrocuted.  They showed us what they put on wires to keep the rain and snow off of them.  They also showed us what people wear when they have to fix or go near wire.  We all learned a lot on electrical safety and we will try to stay away from wires!
FRIGHT NIGHT
On October 25, I went to FRIGHT NIGHT with my friend Nick. It was sooooooo fun! They had music, snacks, drinks, a fortuneteller, and even a Haunted Hallway. The first time I went in I got really scared. [Then I went in 4 more times.] This year's fright night was much more scarier then last year's fright night.
