Class Guide
 Dear Parents,
Please read and save this information so you can refer to it during this year. Thank you for your cooperation.
|
Snacks
Please send a healthy snack to school each day. The snack provides your child with a nutritious solution to hunger pains during our morning periods. On half days your child may bring a “light lunch.”
|
Water Bottles
Students may bring in a water bottle to keep at their desks during the day. They should come in filled, and will be allowed to fill one additional time throughout the day. Water bottles may stay in the class for the entire week, but will be taken home on Fridays to be cleaned.
|
Supplies
The third grade supply list has been distributed. Please make sure your child has these items. ** The only additional item that I require is a three ring binder. This would help greatly in your child's organizational process. As a reminder I suggest you check the following items often: sharpened pencils, a glue stick, crayons, scissors, a ruler, and a pencil case or box. **Please put your child's name on everything.
|
Homework
Your child will be responsible to write their homework assignment in their homework notebook each day. Homework will have many purposes; review work, sharing of new concepts or work with parents, and completing class work. Generally, homework should take about thirty minutes to complete. ** There will be no homework on Fridays, with the exception of a project/test.
***Important
Handing in homework on time is very important in keeping up with our studies, participation in follow up activities, and developing responsibility. Please encourage your child to do their homework in a timely manner, to do it neatly, and to complete it to the best of their ability. Parents often ask if they should help with homework. Yes, your guidance in this manner is greatly appreciated.
|
Important Homework Policy:
Please send in a note if any extraordinary circumstances prevent your child from handing in an assignment on time. Without a note from you, assignments that are not handed in on time or that are incomplete will be given a late slip and/or might lose some recess time to complete the missing work. This late slip must be signed by a parent and returned with the completed assignment the next day. If our child does not bring back the signed late slip and the missing homework he/she will be missing recess to complete the assignment. After three late assignments a point will be subtracted from the marking period average for that subject. Ten points will be deducted each day from any long-term projects that are handed in late. We will have many discussions in class during the first few weeks about homework policies and expectations. However, after this awareness period the student will miss recess for a late or incomplete assignment. *Your support in this important matter is greatly appreciated.
|
Spelling
Your child will receive the spelling words from an activity booklet the first day of each week. These high frequency words are used regularly and are often misspelled. Your child will be expected to master these words and use them correctly in their daily writing and homework assignments. All class work and homework in this booklet must be done neatly in pencil. There will be a spelling test every Friday throughout the year.
|
Birthday Treats
If you wish to have your child share a treat for his/her birthday, you may bring in treats and have your child distribute them at lunch time. A simple treat of your choice (donut, cupcake, cookies/brownies) will be distributed at that time. *Due to allergies please look out for peanuts in foods*
Thank you for your support and understanding. If there are any thoughts or concerns please do not hesitate to ask.

Sincerely,
Mrs.Schlosser
