Classroom Policies
Homework
Homework is designed to aid the student in achieving classroom and school goals.  Homework will be approximately 30 minutes nightly. The homework I give will fit one of these four categories:
Remedial Drill - This is an extension of work that has been introduced in class.
Research - This is work which involves the use of reference materials.  It is often given on an extended time basis.
Unfinished Work - This is work that is not completed in class and is within the student's capability to finish at home.
Review - Students should spend some time at home studying and preparing for tests.
Your child has an assignment notebook which should come home nightly.  Time is set aside each day for assignments to be recorded.  It is the student's responsibility to record, complete, and return his/her homework nightly.  It is important that homework is done by the due date so that the student can participate in the daily lessons and keep up with our studies.  If a homework assignment is not complete the day it is due, your child will receive a homework notice which is to be brought home for you to sign.

Behavior Policy
On the first day of school, I explained behavioral expectations for the classroom, lunchroom, and playground. We also reviewed the MHHS conduct code.  It is very important for the children to realize that they have the power to have a successful school year by acting appropriately.   In the event, however, that rules are not followed, there are consequences.  I will provide the students with verbal warnings at first, but if poor behavior continues, the student will lose some minutes of recess and will need to fill out a “Think About It” form.  The student will need to identify what he/she did wrong and how that behavior can be improved in the future.  This form must be signed by his/her parents and returned the next day.
