Alvin Cox Memorial Scholarship
Deadline: May 31st, 2008 Amount- 8 - $1000
This memorial fund was established to provide financial assistance to those attending a college or university. Essay required including your reason for deciding to attend college, your chosen college major, and any reasons for why you believe you deserve the scholarship. American Legion Baseball Scholarship
Deadline: July 15th, 2008 Amount- $1,000
Player on 2008 roster of team affiliated with American Legion Post. Must be nominated by team manager or head coach. Recommendations and official transcript required.
Annie's Environmental Studies Scholarship
Deadline: Oct. 30th, 2008 Amount- multiple awards $2,500 to $10,000

ASTA (American Society of Travel Agents) Foundation

For high school seniors interested in pursuing careers in the travel industry, in a variety of programs, including 2 year colleges, 4 year colleges, and travel school programs.
Automotive Hall of Fame Scholarship Program
Deadline: May 30th, 2008 Amount- varies / several offerings
Applicants must indicate a sincere interest in an automotive related career.
Coca-Cola Two-Year College Scholarship
Deadline: May 31st, 2008 Amount- 350 awards of $1,000
High school senior planning to attend 2-year program for an associates degree. Nomination required by college. Rewards leadership and excellence as demonstrated through academics, community service and/or part-time employment. Minimum 2.5 GPA. Go to www.coca-colascholars.org and follow links.

Volunteer Firefighter/EMS 9/11 Appreciation Award
Deadline: May 30th, 2008 Amount: $1,000
This scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who is a child of an active NF Volunteer Firefighter or EMS worker who is planning to further their education at an accredited school.

Connecticut State University System Foundation
Ted Martocchio Scholarship (Building and Trades Union) Amount-up to $2,000
Deadline: May 31st, 2008
For a child of a Building and Trades Union member, planning to attend any university in the CSU System; GPA 2.75, leadership, volunteer work, financial need.
Pratt and Whitney Science and Technology Scholarship* Amount - $1,000
Deadline: May 31st, 2008
Student with GPA 3.0 minimum, demonstrated interest and/or examples of excellence in science or technology in high school, accepted to ECSU full time for fall 2007, and with significant financial need.
T. Clark Hull Public Service Scholarship* Amount - $500
Deadline: May 31st, 2008
Student GPA 3.0 minimum, demonstrated leadership and commitment to service to high school and/or community, accepted to SCSU for fall 2005, and significant financial need
Connecticut Sun Foundation/Bright Horizons Scholarship
Deadline: May 30th, 2008 Amount - $2500 per yr for 4 years
Must be attending college in Connecticut fall 2008; demonstrated financial need; 3.0 average; SAT 1010; 500 word essay on the greatest challenge in your community.

Foster Adoptive Mission/Kay Wrick Scholarship
Deadline: May 30th, 2008 Amount: $1,000
Child of color, in foster care for one consecutive year, high school senior, GPA of 3.0 or better and planning to major in a field related to working with children in the community - social work, human services, sociology, psychology, criminal justice, etc.
Hispanic Scholarship Fund
Deadline: various Amount - $1000-$2500
To assist high school students of Hispanic heritage obtain a college degree. Available to graduating high school seniors who plan to enroll full-time at a community college or four year institution.. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale New required on-line universal application allows students to apply for 7 different scholarships: www.hsf.net.

Lady Sports Riders Scholarship Program
Deadline: May 31st, 2008 Amount: several awards of at least $1,000 each

Milton Fisher Scholarship for Innovation and Creativity
The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven
Deadline: June 18th, 2008 Amount- multiple awards at up to $5,000
Scholarships for “students who have solved artistic, scientific, or technical problems in new or unusual ways; students who have come up with distinctive solutions faced by their schools, communities, or families.” Brochure in scholarship folder gives examples. Has been won by NFHS student in past.

Police Corps Program
Deadline: On-Going Amount-up to $7,500
Provides financial assistance and basic police training for college students who agrees to serve as officers for four years. Scholarship also available for a child of police officer killed in the line of duty. For further information see CCC.
Rock Cats/Dunkin Donuts Student Athlete Scholarship
Deadline: May 31st, 2008 Amount: 2 - $2500
Senior; member of at least one HS sports team; 3.0 GPA; 1300 SAT out of 2400; extracurricular activities. 500 word personal essay and references required.
The Sallie Mae Fund
Deadline: April 15th, 2008/May 31st, 2008 Amount- several awards at up to $3,800
