Inclement Weather Early Closings

WEATHER RELATED EARLY DISMISSAL

Dear Parents:

When it's WEATHER RELATED, both Consolidated and Meeting House Hill Schools dismiss early at 12:25 P.M. This affects students in EIP, AM Kindergarten, and Grades 1 through 5. Please note this unusual change: AM Kindergarten and AM EIP students will be dismissed at 12:25 (not 11:30). There will be no PM Kindergarten session held on such days. This announcement is in your PTO Parent Handbook and on the Consolidated Web Page.

Buses will start to leave Consolidated at 12:25 P.M. This way you can better judge when the bus will arrive at your stop. Please be sure to discuss your back up plan with your child in event of such a dismissal. Also, there will be no lunch on Weather Related Early Dismissal days. The teachers appreciate the snack you send along with your child every day.

Information regarding school closings, early dismissals, and delays can be accessed either through the district's website: www.newfairfieldschools.org or by calling the Consolidated Weather Info Line: 312-5959. Please do not call the school's main number to inquire about closings as it ties up the line and interferes with the handling of urgent messages.

We are asking parents to have their children ride the school bus to and from school, especially on delayed opening and early dismissal days. The school bus is truly the safest place to be, because road crews and emergency vehicles are always going to respond to the needs of the school bus drivers who are transporting children between school and home. In any case, if you decide to pick up your child from school due to inclement weather, please do so no later than 12:00 P.M., when groups of “car pick up” children will begin being dismissed through the lobby.
