Welcome to Room 39!   This upcoming school year will be a special time for your child, full of many learning discoveries.  I am excited to share this journey with your child.   Some important things you can do at home: Read, Read, Read! Read with your child daily.  Select stories about topics your chid is interested in, read and reread the library books and small books that your child brings home from school. Talk to your child about what you have read, make predctions while reading, and discuss reactions to the story. Review and discuss the work your child brings home daily. Empty your child's backpack daily. Practice reading the letters of the alphabet and the sounds that go with each letter Practice reading the numbers 0 to 20. Practice reading and writing the capital and lowercase letters, and numbers 0-20 from memory. Practice reading and writng the eleven kindergarten spelling words:  I, a, it, is, in, at, to, my, and, the, you.
