Jump Rope for Heart
JRFH is an annual event which completed its 3rd year at Consolidated. JRFH was held the week of May 12-16, 2008.
In May 2008, Grades K-2 worked very hard learning how to jump rope and learning how to have a healthy heart. Overall, our 1st & 2nd grade students raised $5850.11 for the American Heart Association to help fight heart disease and stroke. In addition, we had 9 students raise $150 or more which automatically placed them into a drawing for a trip to Disney World (Johnny Romero, Sean King, Jonathan Milovic, Brandon Autorino, Jared O'Connor, Cole Judelson, Derek Diehl, Nicholas Alviti, and Cristiano Ciatto). Jared O'Connor, in Mrs. Woodard's class was the school's top fundraiser. His efforts raised $370.00 for our cause. Thanks again to everyone who helped me make this year's event a successfull one.
This event is a great way for us to teach students the importance of developing good heart-healthy habits and helping the hearts of others by collecting donations for the research and educational programs of the American Heart Association.
Heart disease and stroke are the #1 and #3 killers of Americans. Our students can make a difference, both in their own lives and in those of others, by participating in Jump Rope for Heart.
JRFH will take place during regular physical education classes every year in May. Everyone can participate in this very fun and healthy activity (jumping rope is fantastic for working and strengthening your heart!). We also have the opportunity to earn PE equipment that will directly benefit all of our students.
